The Republican Party of Juneau County invites the public to attend a forum for candidates running for sheriff in Juneau County at 1 p.m. June 20 at Hatch Library, 111 W. State St., Mauston.
Both Republican candidates, Steve Johnson and current undersheriff Zac Board are invited and there are no other candidates who will be on the ballot, so essentially the Primary election will determine who will be sheriff. Johnson has confirmed his intention to attend, and party officials are awaiting a response from Board.
“Either way, we will have a forum,” said chairman Roger Lipski. “This may be the best if not the only chance that the public has to meet the candidates and decide between them to determine who will best serve the public interest in coming years.”
The candidates will field questions from the audience and the party may make an endorsement.
