The Portage Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a new Halloween event for youths, showing off large service trucks with a chance to do some early trick-or-treating on Thursday.
The Portage Parks and Recreation Department will present a Truck or Treat event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. The event is intended to get youths up close to and learn about the large trucks and vehicles, such as a police squad car, they see driving around the city every day, said Mike Percy, recreation coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department.
"Whether it's extra stuff a fire truck does, the services an ambulance provides, or all the gadgets a police squad car has, this event will allow (youths) to gather some knowledge and candy along the way," Mike Percy, recreation coordinator for the Parks & Recreation Department, said of the Truck or Treat event.
