"Young potential employees who have come through the ag and FFA programs are better prepared to be permanent employees," Tom Ballweg, from Ballweg Implement, told Waupun School Board members on Monday.
The Waupun FFA Chapter, one of the largest chapters in Wisconsin, will be seeing some change in the next school year with the retirement of the school district’s two agricultural instructors and FFA advisors.
The Waupun School Board meeting was moved to Rock River Intermediate School on Monday to provide enough room for those who wanted to speak about the district's agriculture department.
"We are at the center of agriculture here in Waupun," Ralph Stowell, a veterinarian and partner at Waupun Veterinary Services, said at Monday's school board meeting. "This is the time to support our youth and our program when it needs it the most.”
