When Dr. Barbara Rothwell, of Creative Visual Workshop in Portage, made a donation to cancer patients at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo, it was deeply personal. Her gift of 17 fur hats for women undergoing cancer treatment is more than a gesture - it’s a message of compassion and resilience, according to a Dec. 4 release.
“My late husband was a cancer patient at St. Clare,” she said. “This hospital holds a special place in my heart. I wanted to give back in a way that would bring comfort to others walking a similar path.”
Her own journey as a cancer survivor adds even more meaning to her donation. “I believe in the cancer care and other services at St. Clare Hospital,” she said. “I know firsthand how important it is to feel cared for during treatment.”
The hats, soft and stylish, are designed for women who have lost their hair during therapy. “Warm head, warm heart,” she said. “That’s the difference I hope to make - helping someone feel a little more normal, a little more loved.”
