The Sauk Prairie FFA Chapter was named the state winning Horse Evaluation Career Development Event Team, according to a June 16 release. Team members include Weston Witthoft, Sophie Sonday, Evelyn Sprecher, and Ameliaa Kitelinger. Their advisors are Jeremiah Ihm and Troy Talford. Witthoft was also named the top individual.
Students who participate gain new insights into equine science by evaluating and ranking horses based on breed characteristics, confirmation, and performance. Participants defend their decisions through oral reasons in front of a panel of judges.
Sauk Prairie FFA will now represent Wisconsin FFA in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in October in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 99th National FFA Convention.
