BEAVER DAM — On Wednesday, May 27, Dodge County Public Health will host a free car seat event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Fire Station, 205 S. Lincoln Ave.
Appointments are required, and a limited supply of car seats will be given away to eligible families. If you already own a car seat and are interested in having it checked by one of the Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, please bring your child, car seat, car seat instructions and your vehicle owner’s manual.
Statistics demonstrate that properly used car seats and booster seats save lives. While these devices offer the best protection for children on the road, only 1 out of 4 child safety seats are being used correctly.
The vast majority of car seats in use are improperly installed, improperly used or a combination of both. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 11,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints over the last 30 years.
Caregivers must ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat or seat belt every time they travel in a vehicle.
To make an appointment for this car seat event, please call 920-386-3676 or email publichealth@co.dodge.wi.us. Appointments are limited.
