Yerges Road in the town of Portland is among the roads in Dodge County that now allow ATVs and UTVs to travel on them.

An ATV (front) and UTV (back) are four-wheel vehicles, but ATVs are designed for a single rider, who mounts the vehicle by straddling the seat like a motorcycle. UTVs, sometimes also called side-by-sides, seat two or more people in much the same manner as a car.
ATV and UTV riders will soon be able to hit the road in Dodge County, thanks to Bill Blaska of Waterloo and the Quad County Runners organization he started last year.
The Quad County Runners ATV/UTV Club is an organization promoting on- and off-road riding in southcentral Wisconsin. Members are from Dodge, Columbia, Jefferson and Dane counties.
State law requires ATVs and UTVs operating on an approved roadway to follow these rules:
Operate at the extreme right side of the roadway surface.
Left turns can be made from any part of the roadway surface as long as it’s safe.
You must operate single file.
You must have your head lamps and tail lamps on.
All children age 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult.
ATVs vs. UTVs
What's the difference between an ATV and a UTV?
Both are four-wheel vehicles but ATVs -- All Terrain Vehicles -- are designed for a single rider, who mounts the vehicle by straddling the seat like a motorcycle.
UTVs -- Ultra Terrain Vehicles -- sometimes also called side-by-sides, seat two or more people in much the same manner as a car. UTVs generally have roll bars, making them safer in the event of a rollover.
Family history and hometown pride motivated a district choir teacher to revive the year-end event.
