Small Trailways football roundup: Bulldogs stop Rockets

RANDOLPH — Randolph cut a 23-point deficit down to two entering the fourth quarter Friday night but Pardeeville pulled away late for a 36-21 win over the Rockets in nonconference action.

Trailing 23-0, Ben Syvertson scored from a yard out for the Rockets' first score. Then in the third quarter, Syvertson found Kyle Kelm for a 29-yard score.

Syvertson was back at it again as he returned a fumble 34 yards for another touchdown. After a safety, Randolph was closing fast and trailed 23-21.

Randolph (1-1) heads to Rio to open Southern Trailways play next Friday.

CAMBRIA — Marshall scored two touchdowns off Cambria-Friesland miscues as it downed the Toppers, 12-3, in nonconference football Friday night.

C-F (0-2) committed five false start penalties and fumbled the ball seven times, losing five.

Drake Klatt had the Toppers' lone points as he connected on a 27-yard field goal late in the first half.

C-F hosts Hustisford next Friday.

ELKHART LAKE — Alex Brown had five carries for 174 yards with four of those going for touchdowns as Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah routed Fall River, 56-6, in nonconference football Friday.

Brown scored on runs of 66, 45, 35 and 13 yards while converting all eight extra-point tries.

Steve Kopitzke added 142 rushing yards on nine attempts and scored twice.

T.J. Patrick had the Pirates' lone score on a 2-yard run.

Fall River (0-2) heads to Williams Bay next Friday.
