Volleyball: Rally saps BD at finish

By Citizen Staff

SLINGER — Beaver Dam's dramatic win over West Bend West may have proved costly in the ensuing loss to Wisconsin Lutheran during Thursday's Little Ten volleyball triple dual at Slinger.

BD topped the host Owls, 25-11, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16 before pulling out a 15-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-12 win over the Spartans. The Vikings swept BD, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20, to cap the day.

"We got a little worn out playing West but we can't make excuses," BD coach Melissa Bennett said. "Our own mistakes beat us against Wisco but we know it's fixable."

On the day, Emily Goebert put down 36 kills while Kaitlyn McIntyre added 26 to go with 26 digs. Katie Poch had 49 assists and Emily Fischer dished out 42.

Kelli Kasha led BD with 66 digs.

"We proved a lot to ourselves," Bennett said. "We showed a lot of character coming back against West.

BD (10-2, 2-1 LTC) visits McFarland for Saturday's invitational.
